Stick Around

A forgotten member of the lapel pin family is the stick pin. Ubiquitous in the days when hats were near mandatory, they’ve ceded ground now to pinbacks and other less pointy adornments. But by not having a good stick pin in your jewelry box, you’re missing out on a way to play with the formality of an outfit.

It can be hard to add jewelry to a jacket while staying south of gaudy, but stick pins made with gold, precious stones, and other anomalies (like freakin’ tiger teeth) give opportunity for a little flash without getting too loud. While best suited for a tailored jacket’s lapels, their simple design allows for some creativity. The sharp points can penetrate most outerwear fabrics, like denim or thick wool.

If you want to add a little something something to your lapel, swing by the Put This On Shop where we have more pins you than you can shake a stick at.
