Our Beloved Sponsors

We’re proud to be able to operate as an independent menswear blog. So, twice a month, we like to thank our sponsors for their support. It allows us to show our appreciation, as well as say a little something about what’s going on with them.

The team over at The Hanger Project has been working hard on building their YouTube channel. If you visit their account, you can find interviews with leading custom makers such as Foster & Son, as well as tips on how to take care of your clothing. In one of their recent videos, Hanger Project founder Kirby Allison goes through the reasons why Saphir’s shoe polishes outclass others on the market. The reason he gives is simple: leather needs to be routinely nourished in order to stay supple, and Saphir simply penetrates better than other brands. You can watch the video here.

Coming just in time for the start of actual fall weather, Proper Cloth recently released their new line of cashmere sweaters. Styles include crewnecks, turtlenecks, and v-necks – the last of which is designed with a slightly shallower “v” in order to help frame your collar. They also have some new non-iron fabrics, which can be useful for frequent travelers, as well as a restock some of this season’s best selling line of shirtings, their Bleeker collection. Pictured above is the darker mélange blue, which can be worn casually on its own or used to help anchor lighter-colored sport coats.

Novelty ties can be tricky, but Chipp Neckwear owner Paul Winston says it’s all about time and place. If you’re looking for something festive this season, Chipp has some Thanksgiving and Christmas options. Their roasted turkey tie can be worn with oxford-cloth button-downs and tweed jackets, while their selection of Santa ties would do well against navy sport coats. You can get the Christmas ties in a range of slightly inappropriate Santa behaviors, such as him mooning your viewer, peeing down a chimney, and … ahem … showing his heart-on.

Few things ruin a tailored outfit more than seeing someone’s bare leg when they sit down. That’s why it’s useful to have some over-the-calf socks to complement dressier, tailored trousers. Dapper Classics makes them from fine cottons and wools, which are designed to stay up on your leg and feel comfortable throughout the day. They come in a range of colors and designs, but if you’re looking for the most versatile, start with solid navy. Those can be worn with everything except black suits (for which you’ll want black socks).

If you’ve ever wanted a Shaggy Dog sweater, but have been put off by the prices, Huckberry has some brushed Shetlands this week from The Shetland Woolen Company. The style has been a staple of trad wardrobes forever, pairing well with everything from waxed cotton Barbours to down vests. They can also be worn in a more contemporary way with topcoats and field jackets (the shaggy texture lends visual interest to any thing). Shetland Woolen’s sweaters are made on the Shetland Isles from locally sourced materials – just like the best of them – but cost less than half the price of some of their competitors.

Finally, our thanks to Twillory. Business casual can be difficult to navigate, so Twillory came up with something that sits between a proper dress shirt and a polo. Their “Friday Shirts” are basic button-ups made from knitted pique cotton, which both allows your skin to breathe and helps you dress down tailored clothing. They go naturally with causal suits, but can also be used with standard navy sport coats.
